Edward D. Gomes

Edward D Gomes Jr. is currently the associate dean for Trinity College of Arts & Sciences Office of Technology Services (TTS) at Duke University. Reporting to the dean of Arts & Science & Trinity College, Ed oversees information technology planning, services, resource allocation and integration for 70+ departments, programs and institutes. Ed was project manager for the Link Teaching and Learning Center, which opened in lower level one of Perkins Library on August 11, 2008.

A 1985 graduate of Bridgewater (MA) State College (BS, physics), Gomes came to Duke in 1986 and has held positions in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the Department of Psychology, Duke University Medical Center and the Duke University Libraries. Ed currently chairs the eLearning Roadmap Committee and Duke University Software License Committee, as well as serving on a number of campus wide committees related to information technology.

Ed implemented of one of the first Duke University surplus computer donation programs supporting Durham public schools and non-profits. He currently serves as chair of the board of directors for the St. Joseph’s Historic Foundation in Durham where he also serves as committee chair for the Bull Durham Blues Festival. Ed also co-hosts Sunday Evening Classics, a weekly jazz radio program on North Carolina Central University’s public radio station, with his wife, Lois Deloatch (09/09)
