As we consider the ways that STEM educational environments and activities should change to respond to the demands of the 21st century, we need to find synergies between the espoused educational philosophy of a department/school, the learning/teaching activities that constitute such a philosophy, and the design/deployment of space to support those activities. In this narrative of the Whitaker Biomedical Engineering Building at Georgia Tech, Wendy Newstetter presents efforts to create a building that embraces and articulates a constructivist approach to learning.
