A research rich curriculum for undergraduates and continuous opportunities for faculty and student research requires resources, vision and incentives. Departmental and institutional leadership must be committed to providing infrastructure, time, and funding. Drs. Jill Singer and Mark Zrull will discuss the “Lessons Learned” from the Council of Undergraduate Research. They will address fundraising for student research, required support for faculty research and the elements of a sustainable research program. They will address building partnerships with research-intensive institutions for faculty renewal and sabbaticals.

The session will include brief presentations followed by an exercise where groups identify challenges at their home institution along with potential strategies for resolving the challenges. The full group will reconvene to share issues and solutions.
