PKAL Faculty for the 21st Century

2006 Call for Statements: Reflections on the Future

Deadine: August 30, 2006

In 1994, Project Kaleidoscope inducted the very first class of the PKAL Faculty for the 21st Century Network. Each member was asked to respond to two questions: What are the current challenges you are facing in your professional life? What do you view as your most promising options and opportunities for the future?

Recently we asked members of the Class of 1994 to revisit these questions and to answer the new 2006 question as well. This collection of statements contains their responses.

Now in 2006 we pose a new question and ask that all F21 members and nominees respond:

What will undergraduate STEM be like in 2016, given the urgency of new challenges and opportunities facing our nation?

F21 statements are a valuable resource to determine the range of interests and expertise within the F21 community. They will be incorporated, as appropriate, in resource portfolios serving the 2004 - 2006 PKAL Leadership Initiative and/or included in PKAL Volume IV (a handbook for STEM leaders being published electronically).
