Mathematics Positions (Statistics and Applied Mathematics) – Capital University

The Department of Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics invites applications for two distinct tenure-track positions. Candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and will participate in other activities such as undergraduate research, service to the university, committee membership, and participation within the department. The first position is an assistant professor in Mathematics or Statistics. The department seeks individuals with expertise teaching either statistics or courses related to the mathematical training of future elementary, middle and high school teachers. A Ph.D. in mathematics, mathematics education or statistics is expected by August 2009. The second position seeks experience in Applied Mathematics. The department seeks individuals with expertise teaching numerical methods and/or parallel computing, though applications will be accepted from those specializing in other areas of applied mathematics and/or computer science. An additional qualification is interest in expanding and providing leadership to Capital's innovative undergraduate Computational Science minor program. This program brings together mathematics, computer science, and the natural, behavioral, and economic sciences to teach courses in modeling and visualization techniques to undergraduate students.
