Schedule Overview

The Project Kaleidoscope Georgia Assembly will take place at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia. To view the complete assembly schedule, go here.

Assembly Registration: 12:00 - 3:00 pm on Friday, December 5
Location: Science Center Baker Atrium & Lobby, Agnes Scott College

Assembly Starts: 3:00 pm on Friday, December 5

Pre-Assembly Campus Tours: 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Friday, December 5
Campus tours of new spaces will be offered at Spelman College, Emory University and Agnes Scott College. Van transportation provided. Tour participants meet at the assembly registration desk five minutes before scheduled tour time. Pre-registration is required.

Tour schedule:
12:00 - 3:00 pm - Tours of Agnes Scott College offered on the hour
12:00 - 1:45 pm - Tour at Spelman College (includes travel time)
12:00 - 1:45 pm - Tour at Emory University (includes travel time)

Friday Poster Session:
Participating teams and individuals are invited to bring a poster for the opening night dinner and poster session with the theme "What Works." This session will include posters from the previous 9 PKAL assemblies. In addition, participants are invited to present a poster on a program or department from their home institution that relates to the following themes:

  • Building and Sustaining Faculty/Student Research Programs
  • Mentoring Junior Faculty
  • Interdisciplinary Programs
  • Integrating Teaching and Research
  • Departments that Work
  • Faculty Teaching Initiatives

Poster specifications: Please bring your poster material on a 3 ft. x 4 ft. poster board to the conference. Easels will be provided. Note: by request, a poster board and pushpins will be provided for your display.

Saturday Poster Session Featuring Undergraduate Student Research
From 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, there will be a luncheon and poster session in the Science Center Baker Atrium & Lobby. This session is the opportunity to highlight student research within your institution/department. Two students per institution are invited to present at this session. Lunch is included for participating students. Please bring poster material on a 3 ft. x 4 ft. poster board to the conference. Easels will be provided.

To reserve a room, call the Holiday Inn at 404-371-0204 and request the "Project Kaleidoscope" room block. The reservation deadline has been extended to December 1.

Transportation

Travel by Air: Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport is serviced by 30 airlines. Taxi fare from the airport is approximately $30 - 35. Travel time: 20 minutes. The MARTA Rail System also provides travel between the airport and the Holiday Inn with an approximate travel time of 40 minutes. The train station is near the hotel. The hotel provides complimentary shuttle service between the hotel and the MARTA station. To arrange the hotel shuttle, please call the hotel in advance.

Travel by Car:
Directions to Agnes Scott College: A campus map including driving directions is included in the assembly notebook. Assembly participants should park in the West Parking facility on South McDonough Street. Directions are also available on the campus website at: http://www.agnesscott.edu/about/p_mapsdirections.asp

Directions to Hotel: I-85, exit 91 (old exit 32) Clairemont Rd. Turn SE 5 miles to the hotel.

Event Transportation: Transportation between Agnes Scott College and the Holiday Inn will be provided on a limited schedule throughout the assembly. In addition, on Friday, before the start of the assembly, the Holiday Inn will provide transportation to the campus at the following times: 11:30 am, 12:30 pm, 1:30 pm and 2:30 pm At the conclusion of the assembly, transportation will be provided back to the hotel and to the nearby MARTA station. Guests may schedule transportation with the Holiday Inn shuttle at additional times. Note: it is a pleasant walk between the hotel and the campus. For directions, pick-up a City of Decatur map at the hotel.

Assembly Notebook

The assembly notebook will be mailed to presenters and attendees prior to the assembly. Please be alert to finding it in your institutional mail room, and review it prior to coming to Georgia. This will include the agenda, a campus map, session abstracts, etc.

What to Wear at the Assembly

Dress is casual.

Assembly Fees and Cancellation Policy

Project Kaleidoscope accepts registration fees by check or credit card (Visa or Mastercard). Payments may be submitted with the application and will be processed upon acceptance to the assembly. If not received with the application, Project Kaleidoscope will invoice applicants. The assembly fee includes assembly materials and all meals and breaks (upon the start of the assembly). Assembly cancellations must be made in writing to Project Kaleidoscope at pkal@pkal.org. In order to receive a full refund, assembly cancellations must be made at least seven days before the first day of the assembly. Cancellations received after this date will receive a 50% refund of payment. Full assembly fees will be charged for "no-shows" (no refunds will be given). Registrations are transferable within an institution.
