Goal

  • All freshmen (200 to 300 students) participate in this introductory, interdisciplinary, academic program for learning science by observing, analyzing, experimenting, and making decisions about how human lifestyles interact with the environment. Students might even have to work within a budget ($$ or energy).

The Building as a Laboratory

  • Monitoring, budgeting, tinkering with the building itself.
  • The mechanical and other systems are exposed, instrumented, and changeable.
  • Lots of measurements available to all.
