Please submit your posters by 3:00 p.m. on October 31, 2003.

A call for submission of posters that describe innovations and best practices designed to attract and maintain the interest of non-science majors and to motivate them in pursuing logical and critical lines of reasoning and exploration. Suitable topics include course curricula, laboratory projects, active learning exercises, etc.

Abstracts will be assembled and included in the resource and background material for the regional PKAL assembly. In addition, a poster session on Saturday will offer opportunities for participants to view posters and foster new collaborations with individuals who share a common interest or approach.

We invite submissions from participants currently engaged in STEM education for all students. These submissions will be considered by the planning committee for inclusion in the assembly notebook, posting on the PKAL website, and presentations at the regional assembly meeting. We encourage all presenters to include plans or evidence that address the assessment of student learning objectives.

Abstracts should describe the following about the project:

  • a title for the poster
  • relevance or importance
  • intended audience
  • goals
  • assessment
  • transportability to other learning environments


Abstracts should be 350 words or less. Addresses to electronic links to further information about the project and relevant information are welcomed. Submit abstracts, in Microsoft Word (.doc) format, to Include your name, title, institution, telephone number, and email address.
