FUN Workshop in Collaboration with PKAL
Application Process and Expectations

FUN workshops are structured to help faculty be informed about and committed to strengthening the undergraduate neuroscience programs for which they are responsible. The FUN Workshop “The Undergraduate Neuroscience Education: Interactions, Interdisciplines, and Curricular Best Practices” is limited to approximately 80 attendees. Individual faculty and institutional teams of participants are welcome and will be selected from applications received by June 16, 2008. Applications received after this date will be considered on a space-available basis.
Applications are to include:
- A one-page description of current local efforts related to specific issues raised at the workshop, including successes achieved and difficulties encountered; the appropriateness of the proposed participant should also be described. The description must be in 12-point font (with one-inch margins on all sides). Please include the following heading on the description:
NAME OF INSTITUTION
- A one-page resume of the proposed participant or each member of the proposed team. (Include contact information, institutional affiliation, education, and a selected publications list.)
- A letter from the president,chief academic officer, or department/program chair or director of the institution endorsing the application.
- A question that you/your team would like to have addressed in the opening session of the workshop.

The workshop fee is $350 per person– which includes meals and workshop materials. Participants or their institutions pay the cost of travel and lodging. Campus lodging is available at Macalester College. (Single occupancy: $50 per person/per night; Double occupancy: $40 per person/per night).
Workshop Schedule Overview
The workshop will begin at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 18 and will conclude at 12:00 p.m., Sunday, July 20, 2008.
Participants will have pre-workshop assignments and are expected to come prepared to develop a plan for follow-up activities for their campus and /or communities during the 2008 – 2009 academic year. As they are selected, participants and teams will be asked to provide further information about their current situation, goals, and plans for the future.
