A vision and the challenges associated with building the National Science Digital Library; and of exploring and adapting content, determining the context, and making connections in forming a learning community in order to teach the skills necessary to have a workforce capable of "a basic understanding of scientific and mathematical principles and practices, and the capacity to enlarge that understanding over time."
The Federation of Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP)
Created by NASA in 1998, the ESIP Federation has grown to become a broad-based consortium of more than 75 organizations focused on advancing the Earth sciences by fostering collaborations and data sharing among a diverse coalition of governmental, research, educational, non-profit and commercial organizations.
The Digital Library for Earth System Education (DLESE)
DLESE is a distributed, community-led electronic library that facilitates access to resources for teaching and learning about the Earth at all educational levels. The library provides interfaces and tools to allow student exploration of geospatial materials and Earth datasets.
Earth Exploration Toolbook: Educational Uses of Earth System Science Datasets and Tools
The Earth Exploration Toolbook was developed to meet the growing need for access to Earth science datasets and data analysis tools to help students understand the processes that shape the Earth system.
Ecoed.net and Teaching Issues and Experiments in Ecology
Ecoed.net is a partner in the Bioscience Education Network (BEN) a collaborative of more than 20 professional societies and coalitions of biology education partners with a purpose to coordinate the ongoing development of digital library collections for the teaching and learning of biology, with users at the center of the development.
GROW a National Civil Engineering Educational Resources Digital Library
The Geotechnical, Rock and Water Resources Digital Library (GROW) from the University of Arizona, is an NSDL collection that features reviewed resources in civil engineering, including 100s of award-winning interactive multimedia resources created by the GROW team.
