OVERVIEW

During the opening day sessions of the 2006 PKAL F21 National Assembly, the experience of the PKAL Leadership Initiative institutions will be highlighted. Discussions will address lessons learned about the politics and process of institutional transformation toward the end of strengthened student learning, with a special focus on "science for all."

VISION

F21 members articulate a common vision of what works in building collegial connections to strengthen student learning in STEM fields.

GOAL

Participants see the potential and feel the urgency for systemic change on their campus, are aware of strategies to support change on their campus, and understand the role of leadership and their responsibilities as leaders.

STRATEGIES

Participants share narratives of change and identify best practices. They will reflect on those narratives and begin to synthesize and adopt what they've learned to bring back to their campuses.

ACTIVITIES

Plenary presentation, roundtable discussions, a poster session, and a problem-based learning case study on ensuring the scientific and quantitative literacy of all undergraduates.
