Strengthening Undergraduate Earth & Planetary Science Programs Session: Undergraduate Research and Research Across the Departmental Curriculum Research experiences can be a transforming capstone experience in a student's undergraduate career. Many departments integrate research into laboratories or courses, encourage or require a senior thesis, and/or support the participation of their students in a variety of on or off-campus summer experiences. This session will focus on ways in which departments can use research experiences to meet learning goals, faculty needs, and departmental objectives. Discussion will include strategies for designing experiences that are successful for both students and faculty, and mechanisms for assessing the impact of these experiences.
