Session: Best Practices for Assessing and Implementing Change
Presenter(s):
Workshop Leaders, Carleton College
Developing a strong set of ideas for a departmental program is only the first step towards change. Building strong support for a unified vision among department members and administrators can be challenging. Implementation plans are needed that reflect the strengths of individual faculty members, reasonable timetables, and available resources. Mid-course corrections will need to be guided by good information on the impact of changes on students and faculty. Data monitoring progress towards departmental goals is needed to enable evaluation of program success in the future. This session will drawing on the successful (and less-than-successful) experiences of workshop leaders and participants to focus on effective ways to move from plans to implementation.
