Enhancing the Computer Science Curriculum through Digital Libraries
PKAL 2002 Summer Institute - Cluster II
June 2 - June 5, 2002

Workshop Abstract

This workshop is planned to introduce participants to the opportunities afforded to assist in the development of course materials through the use of digital libraries, the CITIDEL project especially, and the National SMET Digital Library (NSDL) in general. This workshop will provide the opportunity to "come up to speed" on these developments and to delve further into the possibilities available. While addressing issues relating to the new curricula and accreditation guidelines for computer science, the major focus of the workshop will be to explore the use of digital library tools in the development of curricula and to present models and strategies to implement the curricula within departments and programs in the context of rapidly changing computer technologies.

Sessions for this workshop include:

  • Introduction to Digital Libraries
  • Curriculum Call: Implications of the New CC2001
  • Digital Libraries: Improving Curricula through Digital Resources
  • Developing Lesson Plans
  • Contributory Activities: The CITIDEL/CSTC/JERIC Communities
